Black Rot- A mixed media illustrated publication printed and bound on acetate, exploring depression based on the poem by Andrew Barnes, 3 metres long

Black Rot is an accordion publication made during Ensor’s final year at university, exploring the relationship and fragility between depression and the self. Using text from Andrew Barnes’ poem ‘Black Rot’, Ensor also takes inspiration from her own experiences with depression to help form this piece. Through the use of ink and charcoal, printed and bound on acetate at 3 metres long, Ensor accentuates shadows and forms to build the foreboding and destructive nature of depression. This piece has been publicly displayed at SEESAW, and the Manchester Poetry Library.
